Terms of Service

Effective Date: December 2025

Welcome to Project Lumi. By activating a Lumi “Cloud Brain,” using our SaaS Dashboards, or connecting an ESP32-powered device to our services, you agree to be bound by the following terms.

1. The Service & The Movement

Project Lumi provides an integrated AI ecosystem consisting of:

  • The Cloud Brain: AI-driven processing for voice interaction.

  • The Dashboards: Parental, Outlet, and Brand management interfaces.

  • Firmware: The “Smart Brain” software for ESP32 hardware.

These services are provided to empower early childhood education through interactive play. You agree to use these services only for lawful, educational purposes.

2. Account Registration & Hardware Pairing

  • Eligibility: To register a device, you must be a parent, legal guardian, or an authorized representative of an educational institution (School/NGO).

  • Pairing: You are responsible for the security of the 4-digit pairing code generated by your hardware. Do not share your account credentials or device tokens.

  • Hardware Ownership: While you own the physical hardware, the software and firmware remain the intellectual property of Project Lumi.

3. Subscription Tiers & Billing

We operate on a subscription-basis as outlined in our Pricing Page:

  • Billing Cycle: Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance via Stripe.

  • Usage Caps (API Tokens): “Demo” and “Small School” tiers are subject to conversation hour limits. If limits are exceeded, service may be paused until the next billing cycle or a top-up is purchased.

  • Automatic Renewal: Your plan will automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

  • Refunds: Due to the costs associated with AI API tokens, refunds for active subscription months are generally not provided, but you may cancel at any time to prevent future billing.

4. Acceptable Use & Safety

  • Content Restrictions: You may not attempt to reverse-engineer the “Cloud Brain” or use the AI to generate harmful, adult, or inappropriate content.

  • Syllabus Integration: For Franchise/School tiers, you are solely responsible for the content of the curriculum/syllabus you upload. Lumi reserves the right to disable personas that violate our safety guidelines.

  • Compliance: Users must comply with local child protection laws (e.g., COPPA in the US, GDPR-K in the EU).

5. Software & Firmware License

  • Updates (OTA): Project Lumi may occasionally push Over-The-Air (OTA) updates to your devices to improve security or performance. By using the service, you consent to these remote updates.

  • Limitations: You may not modify the firmware to redirect the device to a third-party “Brain” without prior written consent, as this compromises our safety and encryption standards.

6. Intellectual Property

  • The Brand: “Project Lumi,” the “Cloud Brain,” and all associated logos are trademarks of the Movement.

  • White-Labeling: Franchise partners are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to use the platform under their own branding, provided the underlying technology remains credited to the Project Lumi engine where applicable.

7. Limitation of Liability

Project Lumi provides the “Cloud Brain” as an educational tool. We are not liable for:

  • Temporary outages due to cloud provider downtime (e.g., OpenAI or AWS).

  • The accuracy of AI-generated responses (though we use strict safety filters).

  • Any hardware malfunctions resulting from unauthorized modification of the ESP32 chip.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Cloud Brain if:

  1. Payment is not received.

  2. The safety of the platform is compromised.

  3. The device is used for non-educational or commercial purposes outside of your specific tier agreement.

9. Modifications to Terms

As the Lumi Movement grows, we may update these terms. We will notify you of significant changes via your Dashboard or the email associated with your account.
